Dream It, Achieve It! Is...

Dream It, Achieve It! is a video series designed to give girls positive role models. As girls enter middle school, these once feisty young women who were good students, who enjoyed sports, and who were sure of themselves, suddenly become vulnerable. Being popular and fitting in often becomes their only goal. How do we overcome this terrible malady and empower our young women? Anything is possible with a dream.

DARE TO DREAM!

If you listen to the top achievers, you hear the word dream over and over again. Carl Sandburg penned "Nothing happens if not first a dream." While Sherry Lansing says: "Don't let anybody take away your dream."
Dare to Dream's mission is to imbue girls and boys with a sense that they can be anything they want to be. The message: to dream, persevere, and believe in yourself.
The Wright Brothers gave the world wings. Steven Jobs contributed the first personal computer to the world. But did you know that the first computer programming language was invented by a woman, Grace Hopper? Or that Sybil Ludington rode twice the distance as Paul Revere on the same night? Or that women finally won the right to vote in 1920?
Dream It, Achieve It! is a life raft. It exemplifies some of the many women who have succeeded in spite of social obstacles. These women are both famous and not famous, but all are examples of strong women who would not stop trying to achieve their goals. They held onto their dream.
We will give examples of many different kinds of careers and give snapshots of women who advanced these fields. None of the women profiled were born rich. Some were quite poor. Yet they fulfilled their dreams. Dream It, Achieve It! videos and our website demonstrate all they have to teach us.
We hope everyone comes away from the video believing, "If those women can do it, so can I!"
Beverly Sills: "You can't have too big a dream." Chris Evert: "Don't follow the crowd. Be true to yourself." Diane Sawyer: "Believe that women can do anything!" Sandra Day O'Connor: "At the end of the day a wise old woman and a wise old man will reach the same conclusion." Kay Bailey Hutchison: "We'll be using all of the brains in America. That's good for girls and that's good for America." Sheila Jackson Lee: "You can do it as well as anyone." Lillian Vernon: "Dare to be different." Wendy Wasserstein: "Don't let your life be ruled by shoulds." Joanna Lau: "I wanted to do something nobody thought I could do." Michele Hooper: "No matter where you start, the sky's the limit."
