Filming Concept

Dream It, Achieve It! is a series of on camera interviews with terrific women that is designed to give girls positive role models. As girls enter middle school, these once feisty young women who were good students, who enjoyed sports, and who were sure of themselves, suddenly become vulnerable. Being popular and fitting in often becomes their only goal. They hide their intelligence, shy away from taking math and science courses, and literally turn themselves inside out. How do we overcome this terrible malady and empower our young women?

Simultaneously, women in successful, unusual careers normally do not get the same amount of press coverage a man may receive. Only 16% of front page news coverage is devoted to women. There are 9 women in the 100 member United States Senate. There is no female Presidential or Vice Presidential candidate in the 2000 election. Women are underrepresented in Fortune 500 boards and in graduate business schools. Yet, women are starting more businesses than men--the rate is almost double--their businesses employ more people than the Fortune 500 combined, and their workforce is typically 50% women.

Our filming concept was to marry the two needs: women need to take their rightful place in the sun and girls need to have positive female role models.

Anything is possible with a dream.
